Erin + Brad 03.22.08

You can always tell when you've reached that age.  You know, the one where it seems like all your friends are ----.  That blank can be filled with graduating, starting careers, starting family, and of course, getting married.  In the summer of 2008, our sister, Melinda, hit that streak of "friends getting married" and managed to send three of them our way.  One of those couples was Erin and Brad.

Erin and Brad chose the Huntsville Botanical Garden for their wedding venue.  With any outdoor event, scenery is key, and HBG is loaded with beautiful floral gardens, sprawling stone paths, and awesome water features.  A bonus with HBG is getting a wedding planner, as well as a golf cart escort throughout the grounds that day.  Definitely keeps the feet happy, and long train clean!

It was an evening wedding, with the afternoon to do photos all across the grounds.  We got to have fun with the bridesmaids and grooms, while keeping Erin and Brad from sneaking a peek at each other before the ceremony.  I love this picture of Erin.  Almost 3 years later and it's still on an easel in my office.  This is definitely one of those wow shots that couldn't be duplicated in an indoor venue.

Funny story time...Whenever we talk to brides one the wedding day, trying to help calm nerves before the big walk down the aisle, girls always say "what if I trip?" with expressions of terror on their faces.  I always tell them about the only time I ever saw a bride trip, referring to this wedding.  Erin is a petite little lady.  She chose this amazing dress, despite the fact that the train could not be shortened due to the extensive beadwork.  Her solution?  Get super tall, almost vertical, platform shoes.  As she was walking down the aisle...well you can guess what happened.  However, hardly anyone knew of her almost tragic stumble, thanks to Super Dad Harlow.  Ladies, the trick is to hold on to Dad's arm like there's no tomorrow.  He'll love it because that walk is emotional of both bride and dad, and you'll save face by him keeping you upright should you not be a runway pro.

Other than that, the wedding went off without a hitch.  Vows were taken, cake was eaten, and the couple had a magical first dance surrounded by family and friends.  Erin and Brad are still experiencing happily ever after and have since expanded their family to include daughter, Brenna May.
